EXPERIENCE

Kath Cook, Owner/Instructor

As well as training clients and their dogs,  I've spent 25 Years training my own dogs. 
Showing in American Kennel Club (AKC), United Kennel Club (UKC), Canadian Kennel Club (CKC). Participating in Obedience, Agility, Tracking, Rally Obedience and Schutzhund.

  • Earning over 80 performance titles

  • Earning over 70 High-in-Trials

  • Earning over 30 High-Combined (Open/Utility scores)

  • 2 Dog World Awards

  • Placement, World Series of Obedience

  • Placement, UKC Premier Top Ten Invitational

  • "Prefect" 200 scores in AKC and UKC obedience.

Teaching Other People to Train Their Own Dogs

  • 30 Years teaching group Basic and Advanced Obedience lessons

  • Many of my students have put obedience titles on their dogs

  • 20 Years teaching 4-H Obedience classes.  My 4-H students participate and earn placements in county and state level 4-H and AKC Dog Shows.

  • Service Dog training. I have done training for people who own their dog and want it trained for Mobility Assistance, Hearing Assistance and Emotional Support.

My Philosophy

I use motivational methods, i.e. food, toy and praise. I prefer food training, and that's the main idea behind my 10˘ Method to Training Your Dog™   I also advocate teaching your dog each exercise. I don't correct a dog until I know he understands what I want.

My "OTHER" Life

Besides dog training, I also have a full time job. I've been married to Mike for 35 years.  He's responsible for building my dream (dog training building), working on it in his spare time. He's a union carpenter, so this building will be standing 100 years from now! We have one child, Katie. She's 30 years old. Together, we established Mika German Shepherds.

Mike has joined our staff following his retirement from the Carpenter's Union. He has also been training dogs for 30 years, specializing in pet manners, tracking, and personal protection.
